Minnesota has consistently been among the 10 states with the highest rates of past month alcohol use as well as past month binge alcohol use. Minnesota has a total of 263 treatment facilities, with 53% private nonprofit and 37% private for profit. The remaining 10% are owned or operated by Federal, State or local government. There are also 9 facilities that offer an opioid treatment program, and an additional 31 programs and 57 physicians certified to provide buprenorphine treatment for the addiction of opiates.
