Paradise is a city locate in the state of Nevada, in Clark County. The city has a total population of 223,167 according to the 2010 census report. Paradise is home to McCarran International Airport, and the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. The majority of the Las Vegas Strip is located in Paradise with well-known hotels such as Caesars Palace, the Palms Casino Resort, and the MGM Grand. Many coming to visit Las Vegas are truly visiting Paradise.
With a part of Las Vega’s major strip located in Paradise brings alcohol and gambling to an all time high throughout the city. Many tourist binge drink while gambling and enjoying the entertainment throughout the city. Many get out of control, because Alcohol affects ones judgment they make foolish choices with legal consequences.
Binge Drinking is the heavy consumption of alcohol over a short period of time. Drinking more than five alcoholic beverages over the course of one night in two weeks or less, heavy binge drinkers doing so three or more times in a two week period. Binge Drinking impairs judgment. Drinkers are more likely to take risks they might not take when they’re sober. They may drive drunk and injure themselves or others, facing legal ramifications to their actions. People who have impaired judgment may have unprotected sex, putting them at greater risk of a sexually transmitted disease (STD) or unplanned pregnancy.
Alcohol can bring out rage in people causing bar fights, but when sober they would approach the situation differently. Not only affecting ones judgment, Binge Drinking also has serious health affects. Alcohol damages the liver, heart and brain, causing irreversible damage. The most common health affect of binge drinking is alcohol poisoning and over dose, this can be fatal. Some studies have shown that people who binge-drink heavily, those who have three or more episodes of binge drinking in 2 weeks have some of the withdrawal symptoms related to alcoholism.
These symptoms include anxiety, headaches, sweating, tremors “the shakes”, nausea, and vomiting. Alcoholism is a disease that causes a lack of control to limit one’s drinking, the body builds a tolerance and cravings for alcohol. The body begins builds a physical dependency to alcohol making it extremely hard to quit and needing the help of a rehab facility to over come the addiction.
