The National Survey of Substance Abuse Treatment Services reported that upon admission to treatment there have been increases in the mentions of marijuana and heroin. Drug only admissions have also risen to a staggering 51% of treatment admissions, based on data from the Treatment Episode Data Set.

Additional data from the 2006 National Survey of Substance Abuse Treatment Services, reported a total of 351 treatment facilities in New Jersey. Private non profit facilities accounted for 206 centers, 121 were private for profit and the rest were owned/operated by the Federal, State or local Government. 86& of the drug and alcohol rehab programs in New Jersey offered some form of outpatient care, 67 treatment centers offered residential care and 37 facilities offered an opioid treatment program. There were also 57 drug treatment programs and 365 physicians certified to provide buprenorphine care for the addiction of opiates.
